H2 Green Steel will produce green steel, reducing CO₂ emissions with 95 percent compared to traditional steelmaking. By using green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity instead of coal; water and heat will be our primary emissions. By 2030, we will produce 5 million tonnes of green steel annually in our fully integrated, digitalized, and sustainable plant in Boden, located in northern Sweden. Director, Sustainability - Strategy and Climate

At H2GS, we are breaking new ground, challenging the current state of traditional industries, determined to become a leader in the green industrial revolution. We are looking for an experienced Director of Sustainability Strategy and Climate, passionate about industrial sustainability. With a base in the corporate Sustainability team, you will work closely across all business areas at H2GS, contributing to a sustainability-mindset in every part of our processes across the entire company, and throughout the value chains we are active in. The main focus for the Director role is on climate change mitigation (CO₂ reduction) as well as continuous development of our sustainable business strategy. This is a foundation of our position as an impact company, as a part of the entire range across our pillars of sustainability – governance, people, planet and prosperity.

To be successful in this role, we expect that you have previous experience working with business development or sustainability in industrial companies or in industrial value chains or as a top-tier management consultant. You will be required to work closely with various cross-functional internal and external stakeholders, so being a solution-oriented team player is essential.

Responsibilities

• Strategy alignment and sustainable corporate strategy; GHG emission reduction and climate change mitigation, including GHG and climate related standards and compliance
• Connecting sustainability benefits to the H2GS commercial offering and product differentiation
• Ownership of Net-Zero roadmap, from creation to communication and delivery
• Team development and leadership
• Implement and review sustainability strategies, targets and policies that we set for ourselves and our partners
• Review and prepare compliance with standards, demands and initiatives set on us by our customers, investors and policy makers

Requirements

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Engineering, or equivalent
• At least 5 years’ experience working with sustainability in;
• Industrial companies or industrial value chains (ideally within mining/steel/metals, energy/hydrogen, process industry or industrial manufacturing)
• An advisory/consulting role focusing on sustainability issues in the abovementioned industries
• Experience from the steel or hydrogen industries is highly beneficial
• Generalist mindset and ability to work across different parts of the broad field of sustainability
• Managerial experience; initially you will manage a small team, but with growth potential
• Extensive customer/business development experience
• Experience working with climate related standards, i.e., GHG protocol, SBTi, etc.
• Strong analytical mindset and communication skills
• Fluency in written and spoken English, Swedish language skills are beneficial but not required

The role reports to the Chief Sustainability Officer and is based in Stockholm and includes frequent travelling to Boden as well as occasional trips internationally.
