H2 Green Steel is on a mission to disrupt the global steel industry by producing green steel, with the end goal of bringing down CO2 emissions to zero. By using green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity instead of coal; water and heat will be our primary emissions. By 2030, our ambition is to produce 5 million tonnes of green steel annually in our fully integrated, digitalized, and sustainable plant in Boden, located in northern Sweden - currently in construction phase. But this is just the beginning – our expertise in green hydrogen will enable us to decarbonize other industries in addition to steel, and we look forward to what’s next in store for us.

Mechanical and Piping Inspector
As a Mechanical and Piping Inspector you will be responsible for supporting the definition, implementation and improvement of the quality control processes and activities in the mechanical and piping disciplines across the Boden project.
You will be responsible to participate and validate critical inspections, perform spot inspections at site and across the supply chain of the project. In addition, you will be responsible for guiding the inspection teams of the various contractors in the project and maximising their inspection performance across a wide variety of mechanical and piping equipment and commodities.
You will collaborate with various departments such as procurement, engineering, construction and commissioning to define, implement and improve the quality control processes.
The role is baes in Boden, Sweden with trips to various project contractor and fabrication sites as required.
Responsibilities:
Safety & Compliance
- Always adhere to and promote the safety policies of the project.
- Ensure that all works are executed in accordance with the applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
Inspection & Reporting
- Facilitate and Monitor the implementation of the contractors Quality Control processes related to piping and mechanical activities.
- Monitor the competency and performance of the contractors inspections teams.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure mechanical and piping works adhere to the project's quality standards, design specifications, and are installed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and regulations.
- Witness critical tests.
- Help defining and implementing the Quality Control Records processes related to piping and mechanical activities.
- Highlight and report any deviations or non-conformities.
- Provide regular updates to the team on inspection activities and findings.
Coordination & Quality Control
- Work closely with construction managers, contractors, engineers, planners and other site staff to ensure the full implementation of the Quality Control System for piping and mechanical activities.
- Liaise with the contractor's representatives for inspection coordination and planning.
- Coordinate with third-party inspection agencies, if involved.
- Participate in reviews and site visits to provide mechanical and piping inspections inputs.
- Interface and align the quality control system for mechanical and piping inspectors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 of experience as a mechanical and piping inspector in large industrial projects.
- Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is a plus.
- NDT certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ASME, API, ASTM, etc.
- Strong understanding of welding techniques, non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, and hydrostatic/pneumatic testing.
- Proficient in the use of modern inspection equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and piping drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to deliver on a high level of proactivity with the ability to deliver by influencing.
- Proficient with MS Office suite and quality control software.

H2 Green Steel (H2GS AB) was founded in 2020, aiming to build a large-scale green steel production in northern Sweden. H2 Green Steel will produce 5 million tons of green steel by 2030. By doing this, the company will contribute to the decarbonizing of the European steel industry, one of the largest carbon dioxide emitters. H2 Green Steel will establish operations in Boden. The founder and largest shareholder is Vargas, which is also co-founder and one of the largest shareholders in Northvolt.
